A120 CROWN INTER CHANGE RE-SURFACING WORKS

 

A120 Crown Interchange resurfacing

 

I am writing to tell you that we plan to carry out essential resurfacing work, including replacement of road markings and studs on the A120 at Crown Interchange, near Colchester. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a smoother and better-defined road surface.

 

We plan to complete this work over 3 weeks between Wednesday 23 February and Wednesday 16 March. We will carry out our work between 8pm and 6am on weeknights and weekends, weather conditions permitting.

 

Closures and diversions

To complete the work safely, at times we will need to close parts of the A12 between junctions 27 and 29 and parts of the A120 from Crown Interchange to Little Bentley Roundabout and divert traffic. The below table sets out our closures, dates and the diversion routes:

1 A12 northbound full closure from junction 27 to junction 29 including junction 29 exit slip leading to the A120. Traffic will be diverted off the A12 at junction 27 via, Cymbeline Way, Cowdray Avenue and Ipswich Road. Wednesday 23 February Saturday 26 February
2 A12 northbound junction 29 exit slip road closure leading to the A120 and a lane closure past the slip road. Traffic will be diverted to stay on the A12 and exit via Park Lane, Wick Road and Birchwood Road to re-join the A12. Saturday 26 February (work starts at 6pm) Sunday 27 February

3 A12 northbound junction 29 exit slip closure and A120 eastbound mainline closure from Crown Interchange to Little Bentley Roundabout, including A120 eastbound entry slip (Sunday night only) Traffic will be diverted to stay on the A12 and exit via Park Lane, Wick road and Birchwood Road to re-join the A12, travel across Crown Interchange Roundabout to Ipswich Road, A133 / Clacton Road / Bromley Road / Harwich Road, to join the A120 at Little Bentley Roundabout. Sunday 27 February Thursday 3 March
4 A120 westbound closure from Little Bentley Roundabout to Crown Interchange including the A120 westbound exit slip to Crown Interchange. Traffic will be diverted to exit the A120 at Little Bentley Roundabout via the A133 / Harwich Road, Bromley Road / Clacton Road, Ipswich road and Crown Interchange to join the A12 to continue their journey. Thursday 3 March Saturday 5 March
5 A120 westbound entry slip roads closure from A120 and Crown Interchange Roundabout towards the A12.

 

Traffic will be diverted via the A12 northbound to exit at Park Lane, Birchwood Road to re-join the A12 southbound. Monday 7 March Wednesday 9 March
6 A120 westbound closure from Little Bentley Roundabout to Crown Interchange including the A120 westbound exit slip to Crown Interchange. Traffic will be diverted to exit the A120 at Little Bentley Roundabout via the A133 / Harwich Road, Bromley Road / Clacton Road, Ipswich road, Crown Interchange to join the A12 to continue their journey. Wednesday 9 March Friday 11 March
7 A12 southbound junction 29 entry slip closure from the A120 and A12 southbound carriageway closure to junction 28. Traffic will be diverted via Ipswich Road, Cowdray Avenue, Cymbeline Way to re-join the A12 at junction 27. Friday 11 March Wednesday 16 March
